We must have all seen the YouTube video. An American lady talks to the camera about something new she had heard of called ‘The Cinnamon Challenge’ and then proceeds to open a packet of ground cinnamon, put it on a large spoon and takes a mouthful.
What happens after that can only be described as one of the funniest videos ever on YouTube as she splutters, coughs and screams for a good four minutes. If you haven’t seen it, here’s the link.

- It comes from the bark of a tree
Cinnamon as we know it comes from the Cinnamon tree, and the spice is taken from the inner bark. The majority of Cinnamon is grown in India’s island neighbour, Sri Lanka.

According to Care2.com, The Cinnamaldehyde oil in Cinnamon helps stop the release of inflammatory fatty acid arachidonic acid, which means it works as a natural anti-inflammatory
- It’s used to treat the common cold
In Chinese medicine, cinnamon is known for its warming properties, and is used to treat a number of ailments, including flu and the common cold.
